Comisión Estatal Electoral de Nuevo León
The Comisión Estatal Electoral de Nuevo León [Nuevo León's State Elections Commission] is a non-government entity charged with assuring the electoral democracy through the organization and surveillance of the state's electoral processes.
The 2003 election was approaching and the Comission needed a renewed Internet space to provide information about its own work, the rules that applied to the election, the places where ballot urns would be located, and constant news about the process. They also needed a way to follow the results of the election once election day was over.
Since there were two different types of requirements, it seemed proper to design a site with two objectives: to provide coverage of the upcoming electoral process and to inform about the many activities of the Comission. On the other hand, it was necessary to establish a new content structure taking into account the need to manage large quantities of news items, and to provide the end users a means to access the archived news easily.
We analyzed the possible content and graphic structure, as well as the technological restraints, and at last it was decided to deply two websites, one to satisfy each type of content. Se we developed a refreshed site for the Comisión Estatal Electoral and another for the 2003 elections. Each site has its own content manager that give the people in charge total control over the information deployed in the sites.
With these two sites, the state's Comisión Estatal Electoral offers end users two different spaces where, on one hand, it explains in a very detailed manner the reasons behind its own existence, its responsibilities in electoral processes and its role as a regulating and informational entity. On the other hand, the site Elecciones 2003 is a living historical archive that contains abundant information about the said election, including
the results.
